Successful Spooktacular Event
WAUKESHA, WI (October 30, 2014) – Safe Babies Healthy Families held their annual Trick or Treat Spooktacular for its client families on Wednesday, October 29, 2014. The 230+ attendees – dressed in their finest costumes – were able to create Halloween bags, “trick or treat” at candy stations and decorate pumpkin cookies.
“This party provides our client families a safe event, a warm meal and socialization with other families in similar situations,” said Amy Baumann, vice president of programs, “It’s a great time for everyone and a free event.”
The success of the event was largely due to the help of various community members and the 19 volunteers who ran the event. Community supporters included Pick ‘n Save, the Moreland Blvd. store donated 200 apples and the East Sunset store donated funds for hotdogs; Menomonee Falls and Fox Run AiA teams from Kohl’s Cares, who baked and decorated 250 pumpkin-shaped cookies and donated trick or treat items; Safe Babies Healthy Families’ board of directors who donated the candy; North Shore Bank – Sussex branch, who donated pumpkin bags; and Catholic Memorial High School, who opened up their Learning Commons space for the party.
“We were thrilled at the opportunity to provide a clean and safe space to Safe Babies Healthy Families,” said Dr. Robert Hall, principal of Catholic Memorial High School. “Partnering with them on their Halloween event allowed us to contribute to a community organization and embody our “Caritas in Omnibus” value – genuine care for and interest in the lives of others.”
