Partner Parish welcomes Fr. McManaman

Big Bend church welcomes new pastor with tailgate

BIG BEND — St. Joseph’s Catholic Parish and School invites the public to join them as they welcome their new pastor with an inaugural tailgate on Sunday.

The parish is putting together the tailgate event to celebrate the Rev. Kevin McManaman after the retirement of its previous pastor.

St. Joseph’s member Shelly Wohler said the community is lucky to have the new pastor.

“We’re so excited, especially because there’s more priest jobs to fill than priests available right now,” Wohler said.

The parishioners are excited to bring back the tailgate, an event hey hosted years ago.

“The older members remember doing the event many years ago and it
worked well,” said Wohler. “It has a nice, laid-back atmosphere.”

The church will supply grilled meats and encourages everyone to bring beverages and a dish to pass.

Also bring tailgate musthaves like outdoor games and lawn chairs.

The school and parish are looking forward to welcoming the new pastor and bringing together parishioners, community members and all interested in learning about the parish and school community through this tailgate.

It will take place in the parking lot of St. Joseph’s Catholic School, S89W22650 Milwaukee Ave., Big Bend, starting at 11:30 a.m. after the 10:30 a.m. Mass. The event is free and open to the public.
