CMH's Cervantes named state's top player!

Cervantes voted state’s top player 
Sophomore led Crusaders to Division 3 state title

WAUKESHA – Catholic Memorial High School sophomore Emily Cervantes was voted the state Player of the Year by the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association.

Cervantes, who set a single- season scoring record in leading CMH to a WIAA Division 3 state title, has also been selected the Classic 8 Conference Player of the Year and the Gatorade State Player of the Year.

Cervantes was joined on the first team by Waukesha West senior forward Katie Grall, who helped the Wolverines to the Classic 8 title and a state runner-up
finish in Division 2. Menomonee Falls senior midfielder Anna Smalley was also on the First-Eleven Team.

Other CMH players receiving all state
honors were senior midfielder Cristina From and junior goalkeeper Cassidy Lentz, who were selected to the Best of the Rest list.
West senior defender Carly Hoffman and sophomore
forward Dani Rhodes and Waukesha North senior forward Aubrey Krahn and senior goalkeeper Emily Senger were also selected Best of the Rest.

Other Best of the Rest honorees were Pewaukee senior defender Jordan Blaser and senior forward Abbey Toureene, Kettle Moraine junior midfielder Chase Rehm and junior midfielder Julia Zach, New Berlin West senior forward Lexi Porter, Brookfield Central senior midfielder Lydia Rohde, Oconomowoc junior forward Dani Sowinski, Lake Country Lutheran junior defender Margaret Tovar and Falls senior forward Rachel Clayton and senior midfielder Sammy Lehnen.
