Freeman Crusader Sports Updates

CMH girls win Division 2 regional 

MILWAUKEE – Catholic Memorial High School girls track and field team won three relays in winning the WIAA Division 2 Wisconsin Lutheran Regional on Tuesday.

The Crusaders won the 4x100 meter relay (50.11 seconds), 4x200 (1:47.1) and 4x400 (4:08.92) and also ran the 4x800 relay second (11:31.82) to beat runner-up St. Thomas More 136-128.

Madeline Davis won the 100 hurdles in 15.67 for CMH, Erin Jaynes won the 100 in 12.84, Maddy Rondeau won the 200 in 27.36 and Kate Mrochinski won the 800 in 2:30.95.

The CMH boys finished second to Kenosha St. Joseph, 116.5-113.

Joe Novak won the 800 in 2:00.33 and the 1,600 in 4:52.7. The Crusaders also won the 4x400 relay (3:31.12) and 4x800 relay (8:40.75).

Memorial dominates Division 2 competition 

FORT ATKINSON – The Catholic Memorial High School boys golf team blew away the field in winning a WIAA Division 2 regional at Koshkonong Mounds Country Club on Tuesday.

Led by a medalist tie between sophomore Mike Immekus and senior Dylan Allen, the Crusaders scored 311 to easily outpace runnerup Brookfield Academy’s 345.

Immekus and Allen each shot 75 to share medalist honors, while senior Conor Farrell was third at 78 for the defending Division 2 state champions. Senior Joel Stanislawski was sixth with 83 and junior Tyler King seventh with 84.

Academy senior Liam McCarty tied for fourth with an 80 in helping the Blue Knights advance to the sectonal
 level as the top four teams move on. Senior Daniel Romero tied for ninth at 86, senior Sean Clarey was 11th with an 87 and senior Troy Zimmerman tied for 15th at 92.

Palmyra-Eagle freshman Devin Wilde and sophomore Izaac Neubauer moved on to the sectional level as individuals, as the top four golfers not on a qualifying team advance. Wilde was eighth with an 85, and Neubauer tied for 12th at 88.

Academy atop subsectional

JACKSON – Brookfield Academy posted the top score in Tuesday’s WIAA Division 2 subsectional at Pleasant Valley Tennis Center on Tuesday.

The Blue Knights scored 24 points, while University School of Milwaukee scored 22. The points will carry over into the sectional level to determine the team champion – and who advanced to the state team tournament.

Academy advanced all seven flights to the sectional: junior Will Conley at No. 1 singles, senior Ajay Doniparthi at No. 2, freshman Anish Singhal at No. 3 and junior Byran Ersoy at No. 4, senior Danny Trunzo and sophomore Adil Bhatia at No. 1 doubles, sophomore Michale Rajchel and freshman Jason Tan at No. 2 and senior Max Drescher and sophomore Bryan Geenan at No. 3.

Catholic Memorial junior Christian Erickson advanced at No. 1 singles, senior Mike Mirsberger and sophomore Tommy Matoska advanced at No. 1 doubles and senior Jon Rymer and junior Matt Murphy advanced at No. 3.

Cervantes scores four goals in CMH victory

MUKWONAGO – Sophomore forward Emily Cervantes scored four goals in leading Catholic Memorial to a 4-0 Classic 8 triumph over Mukwonago on Tuesday.

Cervantes tallied the first goal at 10 minutes, 25 seconds on an assist by freshman forward Lauren Lehsten. She scored the second on an assist by sophomore forward Jo Rolli at 41:26, then scored unassisted at 45:15 before adding the final goal on an assist by sophomore midfielder Mo Burke at 57:38.

CMH got five saves from junior Anna Briscoe and one from junior Cassidy Lentz.

The Crusaders emerged at 5-2 in the Classic 8 and 17-2 overall. The Indians are 2-5 in the conference and 10-7-2 overall.
