CMH launches powerhouse computer science program.

Rose Hoffmann, CMH computer science teacher, is one of only 4 teachers in the nation to pilot a powerhouse program combining a new Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Computer Science Software and Engineering class with Advanced Placement's pilot (AP) Computer Science Principles.  Thirty nine sophmores to seniors will benefit from the cutting-edge coursework at CMH and contribute to the national program rollout planned for 2014-17. Under Hoffman's guidance, students will use newly acquired professional computer software to create Android apps and interactive web pages, and to apply data mining to real-world challenges.

In their fifth year of Project Lead the Way, Mrs. Hoffmann and colleague, Mary Kuemmel Petrie '76, also teach Principles of Engineering, Introduction to Engineering Design, Digital Electronics, and Engineering Design and Development to 110 freshman through seniors.

Important advancements at CMH demonstrate progress on the Vision 2020 strategic goals, and are made possible in part through charitable gifts, including those of time and talent. Contact Marguerite Gallagher, Development Director to learn how alumni and friends can help propel these programs forward!
