Michels, Tiahnybik set track meet marks
MILWAUKEE – Oconomowoc High School senior Shawn Michels won the 110-meter hurdles in 15.14 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 40.09 – both meet records – to lead the Raccoons to fifth place in the Wisconsin Lutheran Invitational on Saturday.

Catholic Memorial senior Sam Tiahnybik set a meet record in winning the 400 dash in 49.43 and won the 200 dash in 22.47. The Crusaders finished 14th with 20 points.

Brookfield Academy junior Ryan Send won the 100 dash in 11.31 and placed second in the 200 dash in 23.36, and sophomore teammate Eli Wrenn finished second in the 400 dash in 52.01, leading their team to a 12th-place finish with 26 points.

Oconomowoc senior Joe Zack came in second in the 1,600 run in 4:22.85 to break the previous meet record and placed fifth in the 3,200 run in 9:56.92. Oconomowoc junior Shadow Day and senior Logan Ferrise finished second and fourth in the pole vault at 12 feet and 11-6, respectively, and freshman teammate Andy Woods placed third in the 400 dash in 52.10.

Wisconsin Lutheran won the girls meet with 108.50 points and won the boys meet with 114.

Oconomowoc junior Jane Nienhuis finished third in the 400-meter dash in one minute, 3.75 seconds to lead the Raccoons to 12th place with 10.75 points.

Brookfield Academy junior Meg Griffin placed fifth in the 3,200 run in 12:55.67 as the Blue Knights tied for 14th place with eight points.
