You'll be known by who you hang out with...

Last Tuesday, I had the privilege of play golf in the Klumb Familiy Foundation Golf Outing for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. It was a great day by all measures.

I had the pleasure of being in a foursome and sharing a cart with former Badger running back and Heisman Trophy winner, Ron Dayne. A very soft-spoken man, who is very personable and has a great story to tell. I have invited him to speak at CMH sometime soon. We are working on details.

Before the dinner, I met and spent some time with Green Packer wide receiver, Jordy Nelson. "Down to earth" doesn't begin to describe Jordy. His great success in both college and the pros has not altered the integrity and work ethic of his Kansas farm roots.

When asked about hopes for renewing his contract with the Packers at the end of this season, Jordy indicated that Green Bay is the biggest town he has ever lived in, and it fits best for he, his high school sweetheart wife, and toddler son.

Before the dinner and auction, the Klumb family asked if I would offer an invocation. I did this gladly and share the text with you here.

Make-A-Wish Golf Outing Dinner Invocation

Proverbs 13:12 "Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a wish fulfilled is a tree of life."

We pray this day that the joy given us by God, will be the joy we show all the people we meet.

We pray that the gift of life we have been given, will be the life we live to the fullest.

We pray that the hope that we the fortunate find in our hearts, will be the hope we seek to give the unfortunate.

We pray that the wishes fulfilled, will be the tree of life which stands tall.
the tree of life which bears much fruit.
the tree of life which bends to the wind, but never breaks in the storms.

We pray that in God's good graces we will have joy, life, hope and fulfilled wishes.

We pray in thanksgiving for all of the blessings of this day, and for the chance to bring all God's gifts to others.

We ask God's same blessings on all here gathered.

In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. AMEN!
