CMH's Lau Recognized

2011 Christian Athletic Scholarship Awards Banquet

Pictured from left are: Martha Radtke from New Berlin West, Female Christian Athlete Award for $2,000; Ryan Lau from Catholic Memorial, Doug Baker Christian Leadership for $5,000; Nicholas Schmidlkofer from Brookfield East, Male Christian Athlete Award for $2,000; and Jamie Helwig from Kettle Moraine, Garrett Becker Award for $2,000. A $500 scholarship was also awarded to two eighth-grade students going on to Lake Country High School. The students receiving the award were Dwight Moline and Grace Swanson .

WAUKESHA – The 2011 Christian Athletic Scholarship Awards Banquet was held May 15 at the Milwaukee Marriott West in Waukesha. The Christian Scholarship Foundation seeks to honor men and women who have shown tremendous effort and ability in four areas: Christian witness and service, athletic accomplishments, academic skills and school activities.

The awards are: The Divine Redeemer Award, a $1,500 scholarship to a graduate of Divine Redeemer Lutheran School who will be attending Lake Country Lutheran High School; The Garrett Becker Award for $2,000 to be presented to the nominee that has displayed exceptional courage and overcome great adversity or is going into a health care field geared toward helping people with disabilities; The Male and Female Christian Athletic Scholarship, two $2,000 scholarships to awarded to students who have met all of the requirements and have had outstanding high school careers; and The Doug Baker Christian Leadership Award, which is a $5,000 scholarship given in memory of Douglas Baker, who was a member of Divine Redeemer Lutheran Church. Baker attended University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse, where he played football. He is remembered for his character, leadership and love for Jesus Christ.
