CMHS 38
St Charles 7

Tries: Kayla Henschel, Maggie Armstrong, Lynsey Bluma, Hannah McCaffery, Becca Silas, Hannah McCaffery (Pen. Try)
Conversion Kicks: Katie Dries (4)

In blustery conditions, The CMH girls rugby team defeated St Charles 38-7 at the Marquette University Women's Rugby Spring High School Rugby Showcase. Junior Cpt Hannah McCaffery played inspired rugby with a dozen tackles, two try-scoring runs, great ball distribution, and multiple quick kicks. The Crusader forwards put in an impressive display of scrums and lineouts that helped CMHS control possession. Junior forward Taylor Wolf, returning to the field after missing last fall, also led by example with several darting runs through the defense.

The Crusader JV girls followed the varsity victory with their best performance of the season. From the kickoff, Memorial's speed and tacklnig skills helped them to a comfortable 51-5 victory. Freshman center Rebecca Haight used her shifty moves and sprinter's speed to race to three tries. Sophomore Erin Sommers made an impressive debut in the backline and set up several tries, and most importantly the Memorial forward pack were able to control posession in a wonderful team effort. Forward Cpt Amy Gogin and freshman Nora Tighe epitomized their effort, with several strong runs and rucks. Putting up that many points in deteriorating weather was remarkable.
