CMH/Pius boys win 2-0
But Waukesha Wings, KM/Mukwonago fall

DELAFIELD – The host Catholic Memorial/Pius co-op boys hockey team defeated Mt. Carmel of Illinois 2-0 in the opening round of the Joe Raymond Memorial Tournament at the Naga-Waukee Ice Arena on Monday.

After a scoreless first period, the Crusading Popes scored a goal in each of the next two periods to improve their overall record to 9-3. Senior Josh Campbell scored the first goal with an assist from senior Cody Dixon, while senior Kyle Fink scored the second goal with assists from senior Anthony Soo Hoo and sophomore Nat Gentile.

In other first-round games Monday, the Waukesha Wings co-op team was nipped by Janesville 4-3, and Kettle Moraine/Mukwonago lost to Green Bay Notre Dame 7-1. Freshman Zed Dietrich scored in the first period to give the Wings a 1-0 lead. Seniors Scott Rivers and Tyler Vermey scored the Wings’ other goals. Junior Austin Freeman scored the only goal for Kettle Moraine/Mukwonago.

Today’s schedule has Kettle Moraine/Mukwonago playing Mt. Carmel at 4 p.m., the Wings playing Green Bay Notre Dame at 6 p.m. and Catholic Memorial/Pius playing Janesville at 8 p.m.
