WAUKESHA – Junior guard Alison Mueller stepped up in two overtime periods to lead the Catholic Memorial High School girls basketball team to a 41-36 double-overtime victory over Waukesha North in a Classic 8 Conference game Friday. Mueller had six of the Crusaders’ eight points in the two overtimes, making two field goals and connecting on two free throws.
Mueller scored 15 points to lead the Crusaders, who had to hold off a second-half surge from the Northstars. CMH led 19-14 at halftime before North freshman Elizabeth Kelliher scored 11 of her 18 points in the third and fourth quarters combined. North went on a 19-14 run of its own in the second half.
Senior guard Jenny Benash added seven points for the Crusaders (5-1 overall, 2-1 Classic 8), and juniors Katie Mueller and Lauren Mueller had six apiece.
“It was just a sloppy game for us,” CMH coach Mark Lepkowski said. “North, I thought, played a very good game.” Sophomore guard Tori Aho had 10 points for the Northstars (2-4, 0-3).
