Catholic Memorial overpowers Hayward

HAYWARD – Senior Pete Karczewski scored the first five touchdowns of the game on runs as the Catholic Memorial High School football team beat Hayward 49-0 in a nonconference game Friday.

Junior Casey Townsend rushed six times for 92 yards and a touchdown, senior Dominic Zanoni rushed six times for 50 yards and senior Jerry Boll ran 50 yards with a fumble recovery for a touchdown as Memorial, which led 28-0 after one quarter and 42-0 at halftime, improved to 2-0.

Memorial had 370 total yards and held Hayward to 45 yards. Hayward had six turnovers, including five fumbles lost.

CMH soccer team wins

WAUKESHA – Junior forward Aaron Horvat saw his first action of the season and scored two goals as Catholic Memorial High School’s boys soccer team beat Milwaukee Hamilton 5-0 in the Sam Beres Classic on Friday at Waukesha South.

Horvat is suffering from a hip injury

Memorial, which led 4-0 at halftime, also got goals from junior midfielder Jonah Sutherland, sophomore forward Joel Balicki and junior forward Nick Muelder.

Having assists for Memorial (7-2) were senior midfielder Nate Craft, junior midfielder Mark Samuel and junior forward Angelo Magli.
