Memorial rolls to third tourney title

WEST BEND – The Catholic Memorial High School girls volleyball team won the highly contested Lynn LaPorte Sprawl on Saturday. The Crusaders beat Kaukauna 25-13, 25-14 in the title match, giving CMH its third tournament title this season. They have played in four.

Senior Kelli Browning and sophomore Aly Dawson each had 35 kills in the tournament for the Crusaders, who played seven two-game matches over two days of play. Senior Patti Abshire had 60 digs for CMH, Browning had 17 blocks, junior Sara Connell had 82 assists and junior Kaitlyn Hastings had nine aces.

Memorial beat five state-ranked Division 1 teams over two days: No. 2 Burlington, No. 4 Kaukauna, No. 6 Fond du Lac, No. 9 Neenah and No. 10 Divine Savior Holy Angels. Arrowhead finished eighth in the 24-team tournament.


This weekend, the Crusader Girls, ranked 6th in the nation by www.prepvolleyball.com will compete in the Mother Macauley High School tournament which features three other nationally ranked teams (nos. 2,5, & 9).
