WAUKESHA – Senior Isabella Lambert is expected to lead the Catholic Memorial High School girls golf team this season.

Lambert finished seventh in the 2009 state tournament, nine shots behind winner Emily Joers, then a freshman at Waukesha West.

She was first-team all-Classic 8 Conference after finishing first in the conference tournament last year, and finished the season with a 78.84 18-hole scoring average.

Her low 18-hole score last season was a 72 at Broadlands, while her low nine-hole score was a 35 at Muskego Lakes.

She helped Memorial finish third in the conference tournament after finishing fifth in the dual-meet standings. Memorial also won the Beaver Dam Invitational and was third in its regional.

Two other letterwinners return for coach Steve Plechaty, who has been coaching girls golf for 14 years.

Sophomore Ava Olson had a 52.15 nine-hole scoring average last year, with a low 18-hole score of 87 at Broadlands and a low nine-hole score of 49 at Western Lakes and Edgewood.

Maddie Quartaro had a 52.73 nine-hole scoring average as a sophomore last season, shooting a 92 at Broadlands and 47 at Edgewood.

Freshman Lauren Klubertanz, who has shot a 76 at Wanaki and a 78 at Meekwon, should be a good addition to the team.

Junior Britany Weber is another promising newcomer.

“We’re relying on the leadership of Isabella to move our team forward,” Plechaty said. “Lauren (Klubertanz) will add firepower to the proven score making of Isabella.”

Plechaty considers Arrowhead and the Waukesha co-op team as conference favorites.
