Crusaders have better fortunes against Cedarburg this time

BROOKFIELD – Elizabeth Guhl picked up where she left off last season Friday but her Catholic Memorial High School girls basketball team didn’t – thankfully. Guhl, a first-team all-Classic 8 Conference selection last season, began her senior season with a teamhigh 12 points to lead the Crusaders to a 63-33 victory over Cedarburg in the Kemp’s Klassic Thanksgiving Tournament at Brookfield East...

The close-to-home victory was a far cry from last season’s experience against the Bulldogs. “They pummeled us last year,” Memorial coach Mark Lepkowski recalled of last year’s game. “It was like 18 points – ugly... The Crusaders shook loose from a 6-6 tie to score 14 unanswered points and Cedarburg never recovered, falling behind 29-9 at halftime...
