Slam helps Catholic Memorial beat Mukwonago

MUKWONAGO – Senior first baseman Grant Kula hit a grand slam in the fourth inning to break a 1-1 tie and Catholic Memorial High School’s baseball team went on to an 8-2 Classic 8 Conference victory over Mukwonago on Tuesday. Memorial, which added three runs in the seventh, improved to 8-8 overall and 6-3 in conference. Each team had eight hits.

Memorial junior center fielder Derek Peake was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, while senior pitcher Wes Stasik was 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI. Stasik went the distance, striking out six and walking two.

Mukwonago junior pitcher Jamison Sadowske struck out 11 in six innings and yielded six hits. Junior catcher Josh Tanguay had run-scoring singles in the first and fifth innings for Mukwonago, while senior third baseman Joe Scheibe was 2-for-3 for the Indians who fell to 10-7 overall and 5-4 in conference. • • •
